CBI’s effectiveness and success is tied to our ability to
deploy our staff on issues that are important to conservation. These issues
range in scale from very local to national and international. We organize
our efforts under these Programs:
- Conservation Science Support — CBI works closely with our conservation
partners to provide scientific expertise to address a wide range of conservation
issues throughout the U.S. These efforts range from providing scientific
rationale for land acquisitions to producing public outreach materials.
- Conservation Planning And
Stewardship — Relying on our ecological training, knowledge
of environmental regulations, and upon our expertise with computer mapping,
GIS analysis, and remote sensing, CBI develops effective conservation
plans and stewardship prescriptions from regional to local scales.
- Forest Conservation — CBI is rapidly becoming a leader in forest
conservation science and in local and regional assessments and mapping.
This program emphasized proactive planning over reactive defense to protect
native forests throughout the world.
- International Program — CBI has been actively involved in conservation
planning and assessment projects in areas outside the U.S., including Canada,
Mexico, Central America, and most recently in China.
- Education — Conservation education
is an ongoing activity, and we accomplish this objective through writing,
public speaking, mentoring, and teaching.
