ABOUT THE CONSERVATION BIOLOGY INSTITUTE

CBI is a science-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing scientific expertise to support conservation and recovery of biological diversity in its natural state through applied research, education, planning, and community service. We firmly believe science is fundamentally important to finding solutions to living sustainably on this planet and protecting the world's natural treasures. We work alone or more often with collaborators to infuse conservation science wherever it is needed to promote conservation. Although we are located in the western U.S., the mission of CBI is not constrained geographically. CBI has grown from a handful of individuals with a modest annual budget five years ago to a staff of 12 in two offices (Corvallis and San Diego) and an annual operating budget of approximately $1 million. Over the last few years, CBI has earned a reputation for excellence across North America on a variety of science-based projects (see www.consbio.org for more information about the mission and project history of CBI).
